Varieties of hanging chairs in the interior, design features

Many people want to complement the space with a cozy and original piece of furniture. A good solution would be a hanging chair in the interior, which will add a touch of novelty to the design. It will also be a great place for a good rest. A wide range of models on the market will allow you to choose it in accordance with personal taste and preferences.

What are

The pendants are a cross between a swing, a hammock and a rocking chair. They are made of durable vine, raffia, rattan or plastic. Can be fixed using a special hook or bracket to the ceiling.

The appearance of the hanging chair resembles a cocoon, which is why it is called that. It gained popularity because of the ability to swing in different directions, spin around its axis. The main advantage - the product can be placed in a small apartment or even on the balcony, it does not take up much space. Also, such a piece of furniture is characterized by a high degree of reliability and is capable of withstanding considerable loads. Suspended rattan structures can support almost 120 kg. Models made of artificial materials or on a metal frame - up to 150 kg.

Among other things, such a design by itself weighs little. The mass of swing chairs for apartment buildings reaches a maximum of 20 kg, so the load on the ceiling beams will be minimal. Caring for such furniture is very simple.

A hanging chair can be made to order and made the main object of the interior.

Varieties

Hanging chairs are divided into different types depending on the method of attachment, shape. In addition, size and material are taken into account. Models can also be characterized by the presence or absence of a frame.

By mount

According to the mounting method, there are models:

  1. Equipped with a stand holding the structure. Traditionally made from natural or artificial rattan, have the shape of a cocoon. They are painted in classic colors, often equipped with bright pillows and mattresses, require careful handling, as they may roll over due to unnecessarily sharp movements.
  2. Fastened to the ceiling or beam. Products can have a different configuration and the most bizarre design, suitable for modern interior styles. During their operation, it is necessary to take into account the level of maximum load.

There are 3 most effective methods for attaching such a chair to the ceiling:

  1. By chemical anchor. This is the name of a special polymer paste introduced into the ceiling structure with a construction syringe. At first, the composition remains soft, and hardens over time. Stiffening, the anchor is firmly fixed. It can withstand heavy loads, even 200 kg is not the maximum limit for it.
  2. With the help of hooks, blocks and other fittings for fixing. This method is performed similarly to the previous one. It is necessary to make a hole in the ceiling, fill it with a special composition and fix the blocks or hook.
  3. Using a screen or special bus if it is not possible to strengthen the ceiling. To carry out their installation, you will need to use a metal profile that can evenly distribute the load. It is necessary to stretch the tire along the ceiling, to mount the fasteners. As a decorative element for the supporting structure, false beams can be used.

Ideally, the chair should be hung on a ceiling plate or a special support rail. The latter, as a rule, is made of a metal profile and is decorated with hollow polyurethane beams, which harmoniously fit into the interior of a private house. For installation of a chair stretch and false ceilings are not suitable.

It is better to set the chair away from breaking objects. With a strong swing, you can touch them and drop them.

By frame availability

Armchairs are divided into frame and frameless. The latter are made of durable fabric and hanging ropes - sling. Depending on the mounting method, they can be equipped with additional elements. Basically, they are placed in the country or in a country house. They adapt to the anatomical shape of the body, so they are convenient to use. The disadvantage of such furniture is not suitable for everyone. If there are problems with the back, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the use of frameless options should be abandoned.

Rigid armchairs are highly durable. To make it comfortable to sit, decorative pillows or a thin mattress are used with this furniture. Acrylic and metal are among the basic materials for creating such chairs. Among the shortcomings, one can note a higher cost than frameless models, as well as the inability to completely relax due to the rigid structure.

In shape

Models of hanging chairs can be presented in various forms. The most famous:

  1. Cocoon. Due to the high side walls that make the space inside closed and separate, this chair promotes relaxation. Modern modifications are equipped with a sturdy frame and cable for mounting. This form is appreciated by people who love solitude.
  2. Egg or ball. It is a truncated hemisphere, which can be regular or slightly elongated. Usually its depth is 50 cm, it can reach a maximum of 85 cm. It is mounted in a vertical position. Designed for one person.
  3. A drop. It is considered the most popular model of chairs for children, because the shape of the design resembles a hut with a small window used to enter inside. Such furniture will help to retire. Choosing a peculiar, interesting design, you can make a child’s castle out of the chair.

When installing a cocoon chair on the street, it is better to choose a waterproof upholstery with special impregnations, and a cotton or synthetic furniture fabric with resistance to wear is suitable for the house.

To size

Depending on their design, the models of this furniture have different sizes. Most of them have a circular shape with a diameter of 70-140 cm. The average parameter in depth varies from 45 to 50 cm. Armchairs in the form of spheres can reach a depth of 80 cm. The average height of the product starts from 1 m. The standard value for the width is up to 60 cm

As a rule, portable versions are more massive due to the presence of a rack with a length of 1.5-2 m. In addition to models designed for one, there are double products. They can easily withstand the weight of 2 people. Single narrow designs are much lighter. You can also find deeper models that allow you to climb inside with your legs tucked in, sitting comfortably.Compared with the classic options, children's furniture is much smaller and has a compact design. Materials of manufacture

In the manufacture of such products, various materials are used. Rattan is considered the most common of them. This is a strong tropical vine, the longest plant on earth, with a smooth and thin trunk. It is natural and artificial. The main advantages of rattan are:

  1. Strength. Despite the fragile appearance, rattan chairs can withstand up to 100 kg, and in the presence of a steel frame - up to 150 kg.
  2. Flexibility. The material can take any form.
  3. Ease. A natural rattan chair weighs no more than 20 kg, furniture made of artificial material is heavier. In any case, such a product can be easily moved.
  4. Unpretentiousness in leaving. To wipe the artificial rattan, take a dry rag. It can also be vacuumed or washed with warm water. Natural rattan must be varnished or polished and then wiped with a rag.
  5. Long service life. Rattan can be used for 40 years without losing shape and performance.
  6. Decorativeness. Exquisite weaving made of real wood looks attractive, fits well with classic interiors.
  7. Environmental friendliness. The material does not emit harmful substances, it does not have sharp corners. Obtaining a splinter is also not threatened.

Its disadvantages include:

  1. Not suitable for all types of interior. In the classical style, rattan looks appropriate, but in high-tech, baroque and gothic - no.
  2. Difficulty mounting to the ceiling. You have to drill to install it.
  3. The size. The rattan chair is large, takes up a lot of space, not suitable for small rooms.
  4. Price. Natural design will cost a lot, but artificial is considered quite a budget option.

Artificial rattan is the most affordable material, but compared to natural it is devoid of the following advantages:

  1. Flexibility. Natural rattan takes much better shape, does not deteriorate under the weight of a person.
  2. Naturalness. This material does not have a synthetic odor, during disposal does not pollute nature, does not cause allergic reactions.
  3. Simple processing. Paintable. It is only necessary to clean the stems, apply a layer of paint and fix the coating with varnish.

Also used for the production of acrylic (plexiglass). A seat made of this material can easily withstand a load of up to 200 kg. It is completely transparent, lightweight, unpretentious in care, but does not possess scratch resistance. In addition, the chairs are made of plastic, wood, fabric, wire. The bent wood structure will be strong and lightweight, but it will be exposed to adverse environmental factors. Some weave macrame seats from a cord of copron and silk. Similar models are decorated with brushes, fringe. The frame of the product can be made of metal pipes. The main plus will be strength, and the minus is weight.

Design and color

When making wicker chairs made of natural rattan, they usually prefer to leave a natural shade of material. In the case of choosing an artificial analogue, they are painted in different colors. The most popular are white, black, brown and red.

Acrylic products look modern. The material allows you to create chairs of various shapes and colors. The favorite model of world designers is a transparent ball that drowns out sounds from outside, creating an atmosphere for relaxation.

The base of the textile chair looks like a hammock. The choice of texture and colors of fabrics is quite wide. Under the interior of any room, you can choose the right option. Usually preference is given to materials with more seasoned tones.Main requirements: resistance to abrasion, ease of maintenance, attractive appearance.

To give more comfort, you can use a warm blanket. The use of decorative pillows will help soften the fit. They should be combined with the model for coloring. Such furniture is able to emphasize the balance of clear and smooth lines, which are used as a contrast in the interior design. In the classic design, pillows made of noble fabrics (velvet, velor, jacquard) made in a restrained color scheme will be appropriate. For a Provence or country style, you can choose a product with a floral print. Modern interiors suggest a bright color accent - purple, red, yellow, turquoise.

The combination with the interior

If you choose the right model, then in the interior a hanging chair can be the main focus. Features of using chairs in different styles:

  1. High tech. Transparent doughs are often chosen for this direction. The advantage is given to plastic and nickel-plated metal.
  2. Provence and country. Wicker furniture of any design is more suitable here. You can take products from fabric, but round.
  3. Modern. A transparent chair in the shape of a ball or a small hammock created from matter will be combined. The main feature is a bright design.
  4. Loft. It is an attic style where it will be appropriate to use hammocks made by yourself.
  5. Classic. The best option would be rattan furniture, wood and other natural materials.

Before installing the chair in the living room, you need to make sure that it will look good in combination with the furniture already available there. A hanging model on a chain in a living room with a high ceiling looks beautiful. In the bedroom, it is better to place a chair by the window to create a comfortable resting place. The product should be combined in color with textiles. Choosing an option for a children's room, you need to give preference to models made of hypoallergenic materials. They must be resistant to moisture. It is worth placing a hanging rattan chair on the veranda, this will give comfort and style.
